Stacking Wins

One thing that is very important for my morning routine is to “stack wins.” Stacking wins allows me to gain momentum quickly. Now, I have talked about my morning routine at length, but I want to share what completing my routine does for me mentally.

Win #1: When I wake up at 3am I know that the majority of the rest of the world is still asleep. Having beaten most people out of bed in the morning gives me a head start on my competition. They are sleeping and I am grinding away at my goals.

Win #2: Workout at 3:15am gets my blood flowing early and prepares my body/mind for the day. My early workouts are either walks or doing dumbbell exercises. Also have added stretching to this routine to help increase my flexibility.

Win #3: Drink 40 ounces of water during my workouts. This small win allows me to hydrate my body while getting my workout in. Keep in mind that while you are sleeping you are not drinking water. When you wakeup your body is already dehydrated and need water quickly. Most people overlook this.

Win #4: Meditate or pray. This is something that I have added to my daily routine within the last six months. Meditating calms my mind and readies me for the chaotic day that could be waiting for me. Since adding meditation to my routine my days are more controlled. When I pray, I get to spend time with my Creator. Please remember, don’t just sit there and be the only one talking. Shut up and listen to what your Creator wants to share.

Win #5: While drinking my butter and MCT oil coffee, I read. Once read that the average person reads one book per year. Also heard that the average CEO reads about one book per week. Not sure if those numbers are true, but I know tells me that successful people are more about gaining additional knowledge. With this information I read books on self improvement and biographies of individuals who accomplish their dreams/goals.

These five wins are all completed before the 6am hour and set my day up for success. Imagine the majority of people waking up at 6am and you have already notched five wins before they are even out of bed.

Listen, I am not saying that I am better than you. The goals that I have set require my full attention and stacking wins helps me get centered for the business day. If you have not setup a routine that will support your day of success, you are drastically playing from behind.

Set yourself up to win. Start by waking early, preferably before the sun rises. Beat the sun up is win #1. Make your bed, win #2. Hit the floor, do as many crunches and pushups as you can, win #3. Drink water asap, win #4. Look at that, with ten minutes of focus you have four wins that more than half the population doesn’t do.

You owe it to yourself to stack small wins early in the day.

In the battlefield that we call life, there is someone out there doing the work to be better. They are stacking wins and adding to their skillset. If you ever happen upon one of these people who are better prepared and more wins than you, you will lose.

Don’t rely on your talent. It’ll take you only so far. Stack wins and make the most of your day
